Kornegay Design Introduces the FencePost Series of Planters
(Phoenix, Arizona) – Kornegay Design, a Phoenix-based landscape architectural design and manufacturing company, introduces the FencePost Series planters. Simple in form yet intricate in detail, FencePost planters, like each of the concrete planters in the Kornegay Design collection, pay homage to artisan traditions through the handcrafted attention Larry Kornegay applies to every step of the design and casting process.
The FencePost Series’ sculptural and highly textured forms demonstrate the handcrafted beauty for which Kornegay Design’s planters are known.
Weathered cedar fence rails were the inspiration for Kornegay’s latest design. The patterns created to make the molds were formed from reclaimed cedar fence rails and sandblasted to reveal the wood’s unique, textured surfaces.
“Planters act as a transition point between the inside and the outside,” says Kornegay. “They house something from nature but are themselves an architectural element. The FencePost Series pushes what is nature and what is architecture as the planters originated from wood.” The sculptural details that characterize Kornegay’s work are evident in the delicate cut at the base of each FencePost planter. “The cut gracefully lifts the planters and adds a bit of drama,” says Kornegay. “It is what makes a planter a Kornegay planter.”
FencePost landscape containers are made of high-strength 6000+ PSI concrete, come in three sizes, and are available in endless color options. The short planter’s exterior height is 30 inches with a bottom diameter of 15.5 inches and a top diameter of 27 inches. The tall planter’s exterior height is 42 inches with a bottom diameter of 18 inches and a top diameter of 33 inches. The tub planter’s exterior height is 24 inches with a bottom diameter of 31 inches and a top diameter of 42 inches. The texture and sculptural character of the planters complement architecture that emphasizes natural elements or serve as a contrast to the clean lines of contemporary architecture.
