Kornegay Design introduces new Offset line, debuts artist Ian McDonald

(Phoenix, Arizona) – March 13, 2020 – Kornegay Design®, a Landscape Forms Company and an award-winning designer and manufacturer of cast concrete site furnishings, announces the launch of a new series of landscape containers called Offset. The new line introduces a unique, softly architectural and refined aesthetic to containers of public scale. “The raw, old-world craft of casting concrete provides a compelling counterpoint to the contemporary, hard-edge materials and tech-based finishes of our current site elements,” says Landscape Forms Chief Creative Officer, Kirt Martin. “The Offset series artfully captures the tension between these two worlds, providing a look and feel that’s not been seen before in the category.”

Kornegay Design introduces new Offset line, debuts artist Ian McDonald.

Weathered cedar fence rails were the inspiration for Kornegay’s latest design. The patterns created to make the molds were formed from reclaimed cedar fence rails and sandblasted to reveal the wood’s unique, textured surfaces.

The introduction of Offset also marks the first work of Ian McDonald as visiting artist at Kornegay Design. McDonald is an artist with a unique philosophy that plays at the distinctive intersection of sculpture and craft. As one of today’s most regarded potters with a portfolio that ranges from traditional vessels to free-form sculpture and mixed-media installations, his experience has led him to the current position of Head of Ceramics at the renowned Cranbrook Academy of Art. There, Ian leads a rigorous studio practice that explores the ceramic spectrum, finding inspiration in its position as a material for conceptual form and idea making. “Ian’s graceful, sculptural approach to his work provides a dynamic new influence to what we’re doing at Kornegay,” Martin adds. “Offset is just the first embodiment of it. I’m excited to see where his inspiration takes us next.”
